Lead with purpose. Shape the future of children’s residential care
At CareTech, the majority of our Registered Manager opportunities arise from growth — not turnover. As our services expand, new homes open, and more specialist residential placements are created for children and young people with complex needs, we are building teams of strong, values-driven leaders to guide them. This continued growth reflects the confidence that Ofsted and local authorities place in our organisation. They trust CareTech to deliver safe, consistent, and high-quality care, which is why we receive a high volume of referrals and are commissioned to support children with a wide range of needs.
This growth in demand for high-quality children’s residential care is reflected across the sector. In recent years, the number of registered children’s homes in England has continued to rise significantly, with official figures showing a marked increase in both homes and places to meet the needs of more children and young people requiring specialist support. Between 2023 and 2024, the number of children’s homes increased by around 12%, and over the past decade the total number has grown substantially, illustrating the expanding need for residential care solutions across the country. With this sustained expansion and rising referrals from local authorities, CareTech Group is meeting the demand by opening new homes and offering careers that deliver excellent job satisfaction and meaningful leadership opportunities within children’s residential care.

At CareTech, Registered Managers are never left to carry the weight of their role in isolation. Our incredible Operational Teams take pride in the sector leading care they deliver - their focus is to see through the eyes of a child.
We firmly believe that outstanding care takes a team of dedicated experts in their own fields to work together for the needs of every individual in our care. Every home is supported by an experienced network of specialists across Operations, Quality, Clinical and central support functions, all working together to ensure children receive the stability, safety and nurturing environment they deserve.
Each home is backed by a Regional Manager, Quality Partner and Clinical Lead — consistent, hands-on professionals who act as the pillars behind every frontline team. With strong tenure across these roles and deep expertise in residential childcare, they provide guidance, problem-solving support and the reassurance that you always have experienced colleagues beside you. This is also brought to life through our Regional Manager video, showcasing the partnership that underpins every home.
While some providers advertise inflated salaries without meaningful infrastructure behind them, CareTech invests in the depth of its support. Our Registered Managers benefit from dedicated specialists across HR, Commercial, Finance and our Performance Improvement Office — all designed to streamline processes, strengthen practice and free you to focus on what matters most: helping children grow, recover and thrive.
This multi-layered support ensures that, regardless of a child’s start in life or the challenges they have faced, they receive the emotional, physical and psychological care they need. Together, we create homes where children can rebuild confidence, experience genuine connection and ultimately lead extraordinary lives.
At CareTech, we believe that exceptional care starts with exceptional people. Our Registered Managers are supported from the moment they join, with access to our dedicated Learning & Development Academy. Every Registered Manager is guided through their Level 5 qualification and SC2 process, ensuring they have the professional foundation and sector-specific knowledge needed to lead a home with confidence, competence and clarity.
Our in-house Management Development Programme provides a structured leadership journey designed specifically for children’s residential care. This programme gives every Registered Manager the dedicated time and psychological space to reflect, grow and refine their leadership approach. Through immersive development sessions, you explore what it means to lead in a complex, emotionally demanding environment—building the behavioural, relational and organisational skills required to motivate, empower and inspire your team.
This pathway is reinforced by experts from across CareTech’s operational and clinical networks who ensure your development aligns with best practice, regulatory standards and the evolving needs of the children in our care. You are not simply handed the keys to a home; you are developed, coached and strengthened so you can deliver outstanding care and exceptional outcomes.
What sets CareTech apart is that your growth is matched by the growth of your team. Training is not something you are left to coordinate alone; our in house training academy provides a comprehensive internal infrastructure that ensures every Support Worker, Team Leader and senior colleague receives the training they need to flourish. Unlike many other providers—where Registered Managers must manage recruitment, onboarding and training without support—CareTech’s L&D specialists, operational leaders and quality teams ensure skill-building is consistent, engaging and aligned to the needs of each home.
Through a combination of specialist leadership development, accredited training, reflective practice and continuous professional support, CareTech ensures Registered Managers are equipped to build strong, stable and high-performing teams. This means every child receives consistent, trauma-informed and aspirational support—enabling them to experience safety, stability and the opportunity to thrive.
CareTech offers clear, achievable pathways into Registered Manager roles—whether you are already part of our organisation or looking to join us from another provider. We are committed to growing our own leaders, and many of our Registered Managers began their journey as Deputies, Seniors or frontline Support Workers. If you are an internal candidate ready to take the next step, you can register your interest and receive early access to upcoming opportunities across the Group.
We also provide 12-month Fixed Term Contracts for Maternity Cover positions, giving experienced leaders the chance to step into a Registered Manager role, gain valuable operational exposure and build their profile within a highly supportive environment. These placements frequently lead to permanent positions, reflecting our ongoing growth and the increasing demand for high-quality children’s homes nationwide. Candidates can explore our current maternity cover roles and apply directly through our central careers platform.
CareTech continues to expand, and with that expansion comes real opportunity—for progression, for development and for a career that creates lasting impact for children and young people.
At CareTech, we are committed to delivering sector-leading care, and we recognise that exceptional leadership deserves sector-leading remuneration. Our Registered Managers receive a comprehensive induction designed to set them up for success from day one, ensuring they feel confident, equipped, and supported to lead their home effectively.
Beyond a competitive salary, we offer an extensive range of benefits that reflect our commitment to the wellbeing, development and long-term satisfaction of our team. These include access to our Employee Assistance Service, a robust wellbeing programme, an attractive pension scheme, and our popular Refer-a-Friend incentive. Colleagues also enjoy Team Rewards with discounts on restaurants, leisure activities and family days out, alongside Long Service Awards that celebrate loyalty and contribution across the years.
